This was a problem that crept in back with AME 2017.1 and was related to the bitrate being too high for the conversion to work without giving an error 3 and failing. Bitrates over 192 would error. Adobe suggested at the time to set the profile/level to Main/5.1.
Don’t know if that would work here?

The other way you can do it, without resorting to using the clipboard, depends on whether the software you use can save as the latest Word .docx file format. You’ll also need to have a software utility that can handle .zip files (Stuffit on the Mac, for example, or something like WinZip if you are playing on Windows).
Save the file (works even for older .doc files too) as a .docx file, then in Finder, change the file extension from .docx to .zip.
Once you’ve done that, unzip the file using whatever your archive software is on your chosen platform. In the resulting folder, you’ll see another folder called Word and inside that another folder called media – all of the graphics in your document are all sitting in there in their original formats and resolutions, ready to use.

You can create a project in Motion to match your FCP sequence specs, then drop the ai or pdf versions straight into the project.
Remember however that if you are going to scale your vector graphics beyond 100%, turn fixed resolution off for the underlying media file.
Save your Motion project, then you can import it straight into FCP and edit away. If you need to change the Motion project, you can do that straight from the FCP timeline.

Don’t forget, Motion is actually much better at keying than FCP and includes Primatte RT (which FCP doesn’t). Handshaking between the two apps (in most cases anyway) is relatively painless…

There have also been several reports of the adapter not working correctly on 30″ monitors too. To read of frustration, have a look at https://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8680802 and be fore-warned!

Probably due to quadro sales being extremely flat on the Mac and in the current economic climate, no-one was going to pay to continue developing them.

I’ll wait for the mid-term upgrade I think. Now they’ve jumped to the Nehalem processor architecture, next step are the 8-core processors that Intel have already shown – 16 core Mac Pro might actually make a major step. Wonder where they’ll have to stick the RAM for that box – nice little 2nd floor extension perhaps?
We do a lot of work in Motion, so I’d really like ATI to do a 4870 X2 for the Mac? The 3870 was certainly a step in the right direction as far as Motion is concerned, but why only the 4870? I would’ve thought at the profesional end of the market, options should be geared to major steps in performance, not just bumps…
Major problem with the mini-display port to DVI adapters is they don’t work well with high-res monitors. There have been a lot of problems running 24″ and 30″ LCDs on them, even Cinema displays let alone Dells and such.

I’m presuming you are talking about a virtual cluster here (on your Mac alone) and not distributed processing (using multiple computers on a network).
When working on a virtual cluster, you need to balance your system RAM against your processors. For better performance, each processor in your cluster should have at least 1Gb of RAM available to it.
From our experience and testing, don’t assign more than 50% of your processors to the cluster, unless you only have a dual core procesor (in which case, assign both!). Remember, however, the 1Gb per processor RAM requirement!
