Thanks Rick! What is a better way of lighting this wide? I like the placement of the shadows but I find them too hard.

    Thanks for your help, Ty!

That one’s got at TRRS plug and mine’s got a TRS. Not sure if it will work but I’ll ask them if I can test it on my transmitter. Thanks!

Hello Ty. Thanks for your reply. I”m from the Philippines. There’s not much good lav microphones for rental here so I’m more or less stuck to ordering one online (importation). I can probably borrow someone’s Rode Link so I can try on the microphone. I’m just not sure if the wiring is the same. If they’re not the same, will I damage any of the equipment, either my transmitter or his lav mic?

I know it’s wrong but I am left with little cash for a mic. So I’m asking around what lav mics are low in price but with reasonable noise floor.

As for the K&F website, I already contacted them months ago. They asked me where I bought it from. I answered, “from Lazada”. I’m not from China or any of the country that they have distributorship so buying online from Lazada is my best way of getting the product. I didn’t get an answer from them ever since. Not a word. Bad customer service.

    Many thanks for this Ty!

I’ll try it with fader down and bringing it up slowly.

I will also try it with my Behringer equalizer (FBQ3102HD) that has a knob for boost/attenuation (-15dB at the far left of the knob). I don’t have access to a line to mic pad right now so I’ll try if this will work.

    Thanks Ty!

We don’t practice it but Filipinos sure do have a lot of other rituals here, haha.

The mic that comes with the M9 has TRS connection so it might be balanced. I’ll take your advice and test the connections. But I’m afraid of breaking something. I’ve read somewhere that all condenser mics need some power or voltage to work, so my transmitter must be sending power. So if I connect the transmitter to the mixer, the transmitter would be sending some power to the mixer while the mixer sends 1 volt (I guess, since it must be line-out) to the transmitter. Is this correct? Will that break either the transmitter or the mixer?

    Hello Ty,

Some projects require us to document seminars. For this type of projects, I’m recording both audio and video to my Panasonic GH5. Audio is coming from the hotel’s mixer’s “prefader” aux-send so we can control the level independently of the front-of-house. Mixer is usually whatever the client has rented but sometimes we bring our small format mixer, the Behringer Xenyx X1204USB.

Since I’d like to go wireless, I’m thinking of using our wireless UHF lav mic, the K&F Concept M9 (It’s a great balance of good-enough-sound and client’s budget, especially here in Manila. It’s so new that there are no reviews yet on the internet). The M9’s transmitter uses an included condenser lav mic with a TRS plug. So I guess the transmitter is sending voltage to it (very sorry, I don’t know what bias voltage means). To connect transmitter to mixer, I’ll replace the M9’s condenser lav mic with a cable (1/4 TS TO 1/8 TRS) connected to the mixer’s prefader aux-send.

The order would be: mixer’s pre-fader aux-send, to M9 transmitter’s mic input, then wirelessly to the M9 receiver, which is then connected to my GH5’s mic input.

Many thanks in advance! God bless.

Hello Ty. I know this is a very old thread but I have the same question.

Since I don’t have an attenuator or a pad between the mixer and the transmitter, can I just lower the audio level coming from the mixer so as not to overload the transmitter’s microphone input? Is this safe for the transmitter?

Since the lav microphone is a condenser, does that mean the transmitter is sending voltage/phantom power to it? With the mixer-to-transmitter setup, is it safe for the mixer to receive phantom power from the transmitter?

Hi Todd. I’m not an expert in lighting. Can you compensate low CRI by increasing saturation/vibrance in post? I just ordered a couple of cheap lighting fixtures (for the lowest budgeted projects; I usually rent out) and was thinking of how experts deal with low CRI lights. Thanks! God bless!

Thanks Jim. Yes, it is analog. I thought that analog and digital are equal in terms of noise so I went on and bought an analog desk. My requirements were affordability, portability, and a least 1 pre-fader aux send. The Behringer x1204USB fits easily in my backpack, is affordable and has two aux sends (aux 1 is switchable pre or post; aux 2 is post-fader only).

By the way, this desk has a USB interface option to make the communication from PC to desk digital. This, I believe, also helps in minimizing the hiss. However, I won’t be going that direction because I need also to mix-minus on most projects and it’s not possible in USB mode for this desk.

I will check out the link that you sent.

Thanks Chris. I might go with the standard neutral profile route.
