I would like to see this also simply because I use a lot of Sony Cameras (just got the Nex 7) and would like to see Apple and Sony play nice for a change.
I have always been curious about Soundforge and Vegas but my Apple environment has prevented me from giving them a look. Boy it really is becoming a multi-NLE world.
Who would have thunk a year ago when I was locked in my Final Cut matrix, that I would soon inhabit such a multicolored editing universe –Fcp7, PPRO, soon FCPX, and now the possibility of Vegas. Plus all the ancilliary software like AE, Da Vinci, and others.
If nothing else, I guess I should thank Apple and FCPX for forcing me to expand my universe even if I have to hemorage cash to do so.

I always wondered about the hiring criteria for the Apple Store. The sales staff on the floor seems pretty clueless about any kind of Apple software except at the most rudimentary level (and often about specifics of the hardware they are hawking). And the line for the tech desk is sooo long.
The nice thing is that if there is a computer open on the floor you can pretty much dink around on it with impunity.

I’m not sure that is always the case. If so, I think we would still have Amiga Computers.
I think it is more a matter of marketing the technology than being the first to come up with it.

I still have an early CRT HDTV with a 32-inch screen. It is as big & heavy as a fridge and takes up half of my apartment livingroom. It generates enough heat to warp the paint.

And while we are fantasizing about products Apple might give us to complete a total Apple video infrastructure, how about a prosumer camcorder that delivers raw 5k HD and uses a chip based on a Cinerama aspect ratio instead of the old dinky 35mm standard.

No need to apologize. After all I was repeating stuff you already pointed out. I didn’t read your post before I threw in my 2 cents.
Still I have to admit, with Apple’s penchant for secrecy, it amuses me to imagine its board peopled by a bunch of evil monks in long black robes who convene each meeting by sacrificing a goat.

The big difference was that smart phones and pad devices had very little market share at the time they dipped in, so the iphone and ipad were poised to develope a market that hadn’t reach its potential.
With TV sets the market is saturated. It would be a much tougher market share for Apple to penetrate. I don’t really see them committing a large portion of their developement resources into an arena in which they would have to really slug it out to make monster profits.
However, if Apple’s goal is to dominate every form of electronic entertainment delivery like some sort of media Illuminati, they might give it a try.

As I understand it, the real conflict comes with Motion. If you upgrade to the new Motion (Motion 4 & 5 don’t co-exist too well) you lose round-tripping in FCP7. But this is only hearsay as I do not have FCPX or Motion 5. Has this been fixed?

So why is it that CEOs in this country make such a disproportionate amount compared to the work force than with other countries? Are American CEOs just better?
And also a CEO can go in, totally ruin a company and still get out with a multi-million dollar golden parachute. I don’t think it is people are pissed because a CEO makes good money, its just that the gap between the rich and the rest of us has grown a whole lot in the last 20 years.
