I feel your pain. I had a 40 GB classic for many years. After a trip to Europe, I left it on the last leg, BART. So a converted an old iPhone as my portable music. It skipped parts of songs, got tied up in iCloud, doesn’t have the nice touch wheel interface to spin through music lists etc. Eventually I got it to work fairly well, but still miss the old classic that did only one thing, but extremely well.

I go through compressor and use 720 p H.264 at 5000 kbits/sec then upload to vimeo. Looks good and works every time.

When editing I sometimes use earphones, sometimes speakers. Occasionally, when I pull the earphone jack out, it messes up the sound to the speakers. Some combination of powering off and on and or going to system preferences and resetting output audio fixes it.

OK. I key worded them, so if I then use option -X this allows me to insert the whole clip, while preserving the keyword marks for later? I give it a try.

I like to use Send to Compressor and then compressor has many choices that are presetup. I think there is one for Vimeo, much like I described. You can also find one to make the MPEG2 files for a DVD. Then I dig out FC Studio and try to remember how to make a DVD. But that works.

DVD’s are at the end of their life cycle. I would output them digitally as H.264 at 720 p and 5 Mbits/s. What I typically use for Vimeo. The quality is much better than a burned DVD. You would have to try it to see if that is enough compression to make a few GB file. Then distribute with drop box or something.

I think it doesn’t matter until you decide how to output it and then you will have to specify 24 or 30 when you send it through compressor.

Depends on how you plan to show it. Youtube and Vimeo use 30 fps. In film school the instructors love 24 fps because it emulates film. Television is still all 30 fps. I will let the experts weigh in on whether FCPX works differently during the edit if you choose one or the other.

Like stepping into a time machine. I remember borrowing a camcorder, buying a firewire cable and hooking it up to my Mac. iMovie came with the MAC and I was amazed how easy it was. I had only done crash editing with a VCR before that. The pace and progress in these technologies over the last 20 years is mind boggling, tracks or no tracks.

Those trailers were fun. I guess with FCPX and 3D titles it is time to update my LyneisFilm Ltd logo, even it no professional would use 3D type.
