I certainly agree that most macs are bought on line, if Apple continues to develop them, its all good. Still, I like to see for myself, what the 5 k or retina screen looks like. At some level the death of Moore’s law has altered the whole computer business. There is not much incentive to buy a new one. Apple is still convincing their customers to buy new iPhone every few years so that is where the money is being made.

Seems like a slippery slope to me. All editing is has judgement to it and once in the camera it is not a real depiction. Real is being there in person. The cinema verite movement in the 1950’s was all about trying to capture “truth”, but that philosophy is still being debated. When I watch documentaries I don’t assume too much about truth. Some of the “documentaries” on 911 are impressive, if not totally bogus.
Anyway, this is a great topic for the Cow forum. Leave it to gun wing nuts to sue.

A documentary without a point of view, hardly seems worth watching. If they can sue over this, what could they do to a Michael Moore documentary? Often the best shots come between shots when the subject relax their guard.

Hmm. Maybe that was why my 3.5 mm plug broke off in my iPhone 4, turning it into an ipod only, in spite of a superglue fishing expedition. Still recharging headphones would be a pain. Left my Apple Watch behind going to Asia because it has to be so frequently recharged. Maybe Apple could and some solar cells like my Citizen Watch that runs for years.
Apple does seem to be not revolutionary and maybe not evolutionary with the departure of Steve Jobs. May be headed for the junk heap like Sony in the 90’s.

I use the compressor filter in FCPX effects and choose>levels >voice>rap singer. It makes my less than exciting voice over pop and I get fewer comments that it sounds like a dying turtle. Anyway, I am not sure what goes on in the filter, but the results are amazing. There are a lot of other choices in the filter.

It could be there is a music file that has an iTunes permission issue in your project. In earlier times, you couldn’t export music files purchased on iTunes. I think the issue has gone away for ones purchased now, but I am lot sure how it deals with the old ones. Just a guess.

I am not an expert, but I vote for using 24 p. It should be as easy to edit in 24 as 30 and assuming the projection system doesn’t care, the quality staying at 24 should be better.

I mark the in and out and use the appropriate keyword. Then make a smart collection with the keywords and at that point I have all of the shots I might use with keywords. No need to use favorites, when you can use keywords and smart collections. This method was posted by a Cow contributor sometime back and really works for me.

I am mostly a single shooter doing West Coast lacrosse for Youtube. OK, several steps down from the average on this forum. Canon XA20, 1080 p, 35 Mb/s, FCPX. 2011 27″ mac, Color Finale. Output to the web with a modest goal of getting a million views (at 760 thousand now). Occasionally I shoot for a lacrosse website and just upload and they edit.
I get a lot out of reading the COW forums FCPX Techniques and X or Not because many of the contributors are serious editors and this gives me a view by experts. While I am taking some courses at the local film school, where X is considered the lowest of low, it works for me and I am not headed for industry. I went from 7 to X and it took more than a while to learn how to select in the browser and edit in the timeline, but it seems efficient and fun to me, especially compared to PP and Pro Tools.
