I am in the same boat as the original poster of this thread. The producer that wants my footage is working on a TV show for a well known Cable TV Network and wanted 5-15 seconds of 2 clips I shot. They want to be able to use it all media meaning TV, online, social media etc. and they wanted usage for 10 years. Would I use the example agreement you posted or would I need the “by the second” License Agreement?
Speaking of your example agreement, are we allowed to use that or did you post it just to give us an idea on how to put one together?
Thanks!

He said it is a JVC GY-HD200. It could have something to do with the codecs. He might not have the correct codecs to read the files from the card. He’s either using FCP or iMovie, I need to find out which one he is using.

January 29, 2013 at 1:16 am in reply to: Why is my footage coming out dark? Need Suggestions please!Steve,
I did a re-shoot over the weekend and I kept the camera settings the same but this time I manually dialed in the White Balance instead of keeping it on Auto WB and I removed the amber gel from my LED light. My footage was actually overexposed at ISO 800 so I dialed it down to ISO 320 and the footage looked 10 times better and I am very pleased with the look now by making those 3 changes.

I checked out everything and it all was fine but I will say I put the card I shot the footage on back in the camera to look at the levels on the Histogram and I noticed many of my video clips had levels mostly to the left side of the histogram and nothing from about the middle to the right side. I am confused how this could be based on my settings. I assumed I had more than enough light coming into the camera but I guess I didn’t.

I just cut a 35 minute movie with Final Cut Pro 7 and 98% of the footage came from my iPhone 4S. I used MPEG Streamclip to convert the footage. You can use Compressor but to me MPEG was faster. Keep in mind that the rear camera shoots 1920×1080 and the front facing camera shoots 640×480. I ended up throwing everything on the timeline and the footage that wasn’t 1080, I simply resized the clips and added an animated background to cover up the black holes. In the end, it all looked good.

I always found it faster to use MPEG Streamclip to convert clips. I do use Compressor for content I send to the web.

Okay I don’t know what happened but I was able to find the good audio. Although I had audio from the board coming in Line level into Ch1 into the camera and ambient room sound coming in from the shotgun on Ch2, once I ingested my footage into FCP, it switched everything around. On the timeline Ch1 and Ch2 was my shot gun and my Good audio was on Ch4! The only way I found that out was I dragged a clip straight to the timeline and saw my audio tracks fill up with the waveforms! I was able to just look at that and see which one was my good audio!
Another issue I ran into was I had set my camera to shoot 1080/30p but it recorded 1080/60i instead. So I took all my 57 clips and ran them through MPEG Streamclip and converted them to 1080/30p but when I dragged the converted clips to the timeline, I am guessing MPEG Streamclip somehow mixed all 4 channels into 2 channels which resulted in my not being able to figure out where the clean audio was!
My fix: I laid the video of the converted 1080/30 clip down on the time but used the audio from the 1080/60i clip that had the good audio from the get go. It synced right up and now I am good to go.
This is a big job for one of my biggest clients so I am glad I was able to locate that good audio because this was about to be a major nightmare!!!
