I didn’t lose anything, but had to re-install mighty mouse, and shuttle pro as well. You have to have an extra disk for it to make the archive to. It re-installs the frameworks etc. then you have to reinstall all the FCP applications. All my data was fine… it took quite a while though.

Well after trying everything suggested and still having no success and after a number of re-installs of Shake and Compressor etc. I called Apple tech support (who were very helpful and patient BTW).
It seems that the version of Compressor that comes with FCP studio right up to 5.0.4 is incompatible with Shake 4.1. It is all to do with the framework files and Qmaster (which both Shake and Compressor use). You simply cannot use Shake 4.1 with anything other than FCP 5.1, which is the ‘universal’ version. So it looks like a crossgrade for

Done as suggested re:update but still crashing. I have not removed blackmagic yet, do I need to take the card out?

Yes that is how I did it. I did not actually launch it from FCP since the first time it crashed, just in case. But I did update it.

Yes it’s Compressor 2 as supplied on the Final Cut Studio disks. I then did a software update before running it.
I don’t understand what you mean by… “Do you have any previously set jobs left…?” if you mean did I have any batched up and ready to process or anything, the answer is no (AFAIK). However the first time it crashed I was launching it from within FCP in order to export using compressor. I opend batch monitor to check, but it’s blank.

The output from the decklink and input to the 01X is analog so I think the bit resolution is irelevant. However you might have a point with the sample rate mismatch, perhaps I should copy the original files and convert them to 48Khz before editing in FCP. Hmmm…
