  • you’ll need to take the handbraked video that is h.264 at RF 18 and transcode to prores 422hq. you can set to frame size vs scale to frame size. which one do you use video.

don’t forget, any 23.976 stuff premiere will auto 3:2 pulldown to 29.97 for you! premiere can work well with 25 and 50, 23.976 and 29.97, 30 and 60; and 24 to 25 is a standard 4% change not too noticeable, especially with audio pitch correction.

obviously, you’ve figured it out, they are multiples and don’t create massive judder. If you do get judder, premiere now has native optical flow built in.

  • for speed, if you chose smart rendering codecs, the final output render time will be 4x-10x faster as premiere won’t need to recompress any frames. any h.264 probally will be hard on your cpu to edit. any phone stuff will need to be transcoded to constant framerate with handbrake as premiere doesn’t support variable framerate stuff. you can also edit full online as well with cineform, if you have fast hd. transcoding to a non-long GOP like a wavelet proxy will also reduce crashes as premiere won’t have to reassemble delta frames while processing.

  • does it look ok when you re-import back into premiere? quicktime and vlc use different gamma settings. vlc doesn’t have color management you could try mpc-hc or madvr. How the media is delivered and played back determines what it will look like. ie. the playback device.
For example, if its played back on a non-calibrated TV, none of this will look right anyway. TV is Rec. 709 16-235 pixel values.

does it help if you change to pref-renderer – opencl and enable high quality playback under wrench?

  • exposure is the closest thing to gamma in lumetri. effect-fast color corrector has a grey value similar to gamma. there’s some other effects in obsolete folder that actually have ‘pedestal’ if I remember correctly.

well, if the scopes don’t change then you’re screwed. so in this case, you’d actually need to hope your scopes change, then you could make a “fix it” lut. I use this free one. https://sellfy.com/p/aQ1y/

are you using a P3 monitor? also, premiere only understands rec. 709 rgb 0-255 not legal video range.

  • if you have anything above 99 or below 1 ire, use rgb effect or levels to get within that target ire before using lumetri. then use its black and shadow slider as pedestal. i find enabling hdr in lumetri gives 10x more control in shadows recovery.

can you explain traditional gamma? there are curves but they are controlled as output after basic tab. you need another instance of lumetri if you are going to layer its parts out of order. weird, I know.

did you set nvidia control panel to premiere.exe always use? what does gpusniffer say?
go into the bios setup. From there, disable the “iGPU” feature
    installed geforce experience?
    deleted preferences and restart?
