there are some other things people use like https://www.lynda.com or https://www.udemy.com/adobe-premiere-pro-cc/
but I always felt lynda/udemy is too basic. -
once they’re onto the computer, try transcoding to another format like animation/png/prores/ audio .wav with some sort of quicktime converter software, or at least find out what video codec they’re using with mediainfo.

try a physical tether into computer’s usb port and copy/paste with itunes directly., maybe the app is running out of ram while loading.

have you checked your nvidia control panel 0-255 16-235 gamma settings?

maybe fat32 file size limitations, try exfat or ntfs format instead.

that’s just luma, also chroma needs to fit inside YUV scope for legal colors.(the first set of boxes) having a rolloff is nice too.

neutral density filters don’t protect your cmos from non-visible IR and UV radiation.
you need a solar filter lens certified ISO 12312-2. these will not protect eyesight, just cameras sensors. -
usually 8 mbps constant bitrate. variable bitrate and 9 are both hard on older players.

the mainconcept mpeg2 encoder in ame is fairly decent and hollywood actually burns dvd-9 disks that hold 8.5gb so see if you can burn dual layer disks and bump up your target bitrate with the new room. denoising first helps vbr size as well. I haven’t tried ffmpeg’s mpeg2 so can’t comment on that one.

backups would be either dnxhr 444 rgb, prores 444xq or cineform rgb 444 12 bit good enough for several generations. if you wanted pure lossless, like disney archive quality, you’d need exr half float 16 bit frame sequences using many terabytes of data.
and to be completely honest, you’d get much higher quality and smaller file sizes in mp4 h.264 in handbrake than adobe media encoder, but its entirely up to you. just use the masters you made in the first paragraph.
