    1. strip quicktime gamma tag with atom tag removal software JES Extensify, then Color settings and tick allow changes. Remove both the Ganma and Color. Goto Manual and then press update to apply the changes. or.. use vlc with opengl to match gamma.
    2. set gfx card from 16-235 to 0-255
    3 youtube click re-touch panel, don’t save it after the retouch then cancel, it will transform it from 16-235 to 0-255. it will fix the colors in a few hours.

    there’s render speed, playback speed, conforming speed, warp Stabilize, rendering previews, etc.

    if you look at puget’s premiere cpu page, you’ll actually see that the more expensive processors don’t do any better at realtime playback than cpu’s several years ago. yep, its a market trick again. And h.264 is still horrible almost always requiring proxies.

    are you using viewing luts or grading directly into your native color monitor(won’t work if your monitor is not color managed? lumetri plugin doesn’t support color models higher than sRGB(alexa can use higher color model) or you’ll get artifacting.(that’s why opencolorio is used) Does it appear with a quick test image sequence Tiff trillions of colors? did you shoot underexposed? using any 16 cube luts?(use 64) if everything is done right, you should have zero banding in that camera. zero.

    every test I’ve ever done, millions of colors limits the color engine to 8 bit. If that has changed, I’d be more than happy to accept being wrong. I’m very sure you need trillions of colors from the color engine to dither 10 bit, 12 bit, and 16 bit. You would need float for 32bpc.
    you would need the project working space set as trillions or 32bpc for transfer modes/color correction to work at higher color depths.
    and you’re right about color management, it creates a 0.1% loss quality in absolute value conversions. I’d recommend the free professional plugin opencolorio for any lut viewing as a guide layer.(it won’t get rendered out even if you forget to disable the layer)

  • 1. correct, if it translates it from sRGB to your monitor’s new driven color.
    2. correct, that lut would only work for your particular monitor. also, the rendererd output would look wrong to you until you used your correction lut in madvr media player again.(it supports luts in video playback) unless your media player is affected by the OS loaded icc profile(which confusingly would negate this lut in your media player.)

    you can get faux calibration with disney calibration disk for HDTV’s Rec. 709.

    who said they’re inaccurate? just calibrate them. they can push rec 2020 which is way higher than srgb.

    there’s a few tricks to calibrating tv’s.

    1. first, calibrate to a known standard:

    a. you can use the disney calibration disk/thx tune up.(all tv’s would need to be calibrated to this disk)

    b. go pro and build a custom icc profile with external hardware. would have
    to be driven by a HDMI attached computer.

    then use the free AE plugin opencolorio input/output and create a translation lut from the regular srgb and new color profile for premiere’s lumetri.

    you would need to burn this profile into a bluray disk.

    2. cheapy way, calibrate using a custom lut.

    Take a picture of your TV showing a png image of bars and tones color chart with a fully calibrated DSLR camera that had its own chart before. then use that image to create a difference lut with photoshop and export as lut natively or with iwltap plugin.

    most color monitors are sRGB. Newer Tv’s can do often do larger color gamuts like P3, rec. 2020 etc.

    If you do it perfectly right, the nicer Tv’s actually do a really good job. samsung, lg etc.
