if this is what I think it is, I fix mine by WWSSW pulldown in AE before I burn to DVD. Some DVD encoders don’t do the right cadence pulldown before burning.

December 8, 2008 at 9:39 pm in reply to: looping

file->interpret footage- loop 5x or something or use loopout() expression described below.

layer>time>enable time remapping… then select the time remap property that pops up for that layer and enable expressions for it (animation>add expression) then type loopOut() in the expression field.

the clip will loop for the duration of the comp. if you adjust the length fo the comp, you may need to extend the length (out point) of the layer (as you would with any layer).(kevin)

Perspective Corner Pin tracks skew, rotation, and perspective changes in the tracked layer. This mode uses four track points in the Layer panel and sets keyframes for four corner points in a Corner Pin effect property group, which is added to the target. The four attach points mark the placement of the four corner points. This option is useful for attaching an image to an opening door or the side of a bus that’s turning a corner.

that’s your RAM settings for sure. make’em default or even a lot lower to fix it. Some HD ppl even go as low as 30% to not crash. I’m not kidding.

December 5, 2008 at 1:09 am in reply to: lowly animated gif bit-depth issue

the output you’re looking for is 16 bit(low quality graphic) not 16 bits per channel in AE’s 8/16/32 bpc. 32 bit is an extremely nice looking image with 24 bit color of 8 bit/pixel and 8 more bits for alpha. 24+8 that’s where 32 bit comes from. Even more confusing is a true floating point 32 or 64 used at disney or 10 or 14 bit RAW used in RED or other digital cameras. Use a 16 bit photosop palette, save *.act and use Animated GIF export in AE using that act file. Even a web safe might work, try and see.

This comp is 95% the way there. It has a segment called random which helps to separate the birds a little, just lower the random and they become a tight fluidic pattern as in your youtube video.

which has really nice light, water, fire projects/presets so you don’t have to wear yourself out figuring out expressions.

Timewarp misconceptions and Andrew Kramer’s plugin and workflow.

Timewarp is actually Kronos from foundry. Here’s what they have to say about it.

“Essentially, by ‘deinterlacing’ in this way you are losing half the vertical resolution of your clip.”

    ————————-

To maintain this information in a accessible manner you need to pop your fielded clip in a composition of double the frame rate. Thus for our 25fps PAL DV clip, create a 50fps composition. Now when you look at composition frame 1 you see the lower field of frame 1 of the DV clip, looking at the composition frame 2 you see the upper field of frame 1 from the DV clip; comp frame 3 = lower field dv frame 2 and so forth.

Using this double frame rate composition allows Kronos / Timewarp to access the information in the second field and thus give an improved retime result with less temporal and spacial smudging. Obviously, you can then drop this into a lower frame rate output comp and field as necessary. It’s a little difficult to show the improvement on a compressed static shot as much of it results in smoother temporal transitioning, but the below pics should give you some idea.

So, he’s losing vertical res. Essentially, by ‘deinterlacing’ in this way you are losing half the vertical resolution of your clip.
