    precisely, like 640×480 upper. that’s why the resolution determines it, not the format.

    This method works because I tested it before.

    “You can do this in AE by creating your lens flare on a black solid, pre-composing the lens flare, then applying the ‘Set Matte’ effect to the pre-comp and changing its blend mode to Luminescent Premultiply.

    If you don’t change the blend mode to Luminescent Premultiply then your black background will be incorrectly multiplied into your image.

    The downside of this technique is that you need to go into the pre-comp to animate the lens flare.”

    You tried interpret upper field and… upper field…isn’t that resolution of NTSC lower field?

  • Make sure AE comp is set 23.976 not 23.98. AE needs to be very precise.

    Kevin is right about the pulldown, but you should know that it pretty much keeps the “look” the same. It will still look like film movement, and I recommend pulldown cadence WWSSW as that is the closest pulldown to film minimizing stutter.

    That’s usually from a codec AE can render out but wm player can’t play. Try using a codec you know you have like microsoft dv codec or quicktime. There’s lots of free plugins that will enable playback ffdshow etc. and updating wm to version 11 wouldnt hurt either.

    You would think they could program a cyclic add/remove memory for what you’re actually viewing at that time like streaming a flash, maybe that’s CS5.

    open the duplicate in notepad
    (example…) change the Data=”1024 to Data=”1000″.

    If you make any new spaces, then AE will probably crash.
    All you have do you is make the resolutions the same, then you can change the preset’s other stuff in the render queue.

  • if u had AE CS4, it comes with an external adobe encoder which doesn’t ask you to change sizes etc.

    Instead of using Interpret Footage to change a footage item’s frame rate, you can time-stretch a layer based on the footage modifying both the speed of audio and video.

    So basically if you want to go the timestretch route 23.976 and 25 fps.

    1. leave interpret footage alone
    2. set same fps for comp as actual footage fps (maintain non-interpolation)
    3. timestretch that layer so that both audio and video get stretched simultaneously.

    PAL to NTSC 25 to 23.976 is 104.2708333333333%
    NTSC to PAL 23.976 to 25 95.9040959040959%

    4. place it as a precomp in new desired fps comp
