understandable if you render out DV 4:1:1. 4 blocks of chroma get deleted per re-render. Welcome to needing uncompressed.
btw this is why you don’t use sharp reds and sharp greens next to each other in sd-tv.

    motion tile might work

  • You can retime the fps with optical flow plugins, twixtor, timewarp that won’t affect the audio. What fps retime are you thinking of? example of video time stretched:

    PAL to NTSC 104.2709376%
    NTSC to PAL 95.904095904%

    ———————
Here it is in audio resampling that negates any pitch or length problems automatically
    sampling 48kHz(48,000hz)

    50050.0248193091 NTSC TO PAL
    46033.9432061805 PAL to NTSC

Enable time remapping use this time remapping expression

    framesToTime(Math.floor(timeToFrames()/2));

However, for RGB codecs, 2.2 is not often the correct value. This means that files that use RGB codecs (such as Animation or None) are over-corrected and look washed out or too light.

If you enable the Match Legacy After Effects QuickTime Gamma Adjustments option in the Project Settings in After Effects CS3, then it will not tag QuickTime files with the metadata tag when it renders them.

    edit MediaCoreQTGammaRulesCS4.xml in C:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Application Data\Adobe\Common

so that your codecs are tagged or not with 2.2 gamma. If your codec fourcc code is not in there, AE will burn the wrong gamma flag into your output!!!

when you get to a nice looking lightwrap, you can fudge it and make the lightwrap a few pixels more than usual, and simmer won’t really matter, it will be covered up anyway. Hey, its better than roto right?

best format is lossless of some kind, either 10 or higher bit 4:4:4 chroma uncompressed or some lossless image sequence but the sound can’t be integrated with sequences.

Now, I did a image type shootout with Targa, Tiff, PSD, PNG, and only PSD and Tiff (lzw off) are 100% lossless. I personally use Tiff for these reasons.

lossless, alpha support, smaller size than PSD for same quality, multiproc thread safe, and used in major studios because it can go trillions+ and floating+ which are used for film, red cameras, when cineons break the hard drives, lol.

scroll halfway down will show an editable 3-D text templated project you can use in After Effects, which is probably the easiest way to make text extruded without learning a full animation program.
