order of effects does matter too. for example: here’s a wind removal process
if you run dialogue isolate with a very low setting like 1.5 separate and -6db reduction. then do voice denoise, adaptive -6, then all that’s left is a nice voice with no noise except the wind, then the de-wind works 10x better. Now you’re left with clear dialogue with zero distortion.

do you have any stabilized footage in there? because that data gets stored in the project file itself. i’d render that part out. plus building peak files is highly sensitive to a slow connection. that should usually be done on a fast nvme or something equivalent that can handle usb 3.2 gen 2 speeds. also, if you’re playing back the footage externally, you should do a disk speed test to see if there is a bottleneck.

overheating? try a pcmark burn in test or something to test cpu thermal throttling.

i’d also note free shutter encoder (pc/mac) has a feature called rewrap, that changes the container without touching the video data.

using a sony stereo lav is up to you, but most people aren’t used to hearing one voice in the left ear and another in the right ear unless you want that ‘standing in the middle of a conversation’ feeling. but it doesn’t work well in large separation playback like in a car which produces a sudden drop off. also, if you have simultaneous mic bleed and movement around the other mic, you can get phasing issues. i recommend mono for vocal recording. its simple, less prone to errors, and you can easier mix in post.

we are still unsure what type of avi codec you are trying? rgb-yuv uncompressed? i’ve had good luck with the free huffyuv codec you can download for free, but honestly, full RGB uncompressed is borderline too much unless you want to upload hundreds of GB/sec. Any 4:4:4 or even 4:2:2 10 bit wavelet or dct codec should be fine. If you want a little trick, try Cineform since it uses wavelet and so does not compress as macroblocks in Discrete blocks.
