here’s another algorithm to get white balance. Works better than color finesse and still keeps the tonal values, plus fully automatic.

I’d glad that you think they are worthwhile additions. 🙂 I was thinking of old files and new files are dsc_001.jpg but then they get put into different auto-date folders with their own appended dates. And also exif data could search for duplicates.
If you had a AE text export, I could write a jsx script that will create blank spaces in AE’s auto import.

I meant, is there a way you could write your exif to a text file so AE can open it?
What I meant for camera syncing was that the pictures get taken off the camera and put on the hard drive without making duplicates because older pictures can have the same filename like dsc_001.jpg but exif info could determine if they are really the same picture!

really nice program. Would it also be possible to smooth the white balance and auto exposure for time lapse? what program did you use to make it? would it be possible to integrate this into AE for text info burn in? Also, a program that can sort your images for syncing with your camera so there’s no duplicates.
I wrote a small AE project that does auto white balance and auto exposure but I’m looking into making a standalone program for people who don’t have AE.

here’s an update that runs 20x faster, and doesn’t disable expressions as easily which is nice now.
I tested it with some really bad 8mm color and it worked perfectly removing all flicker and balancing white. If you have some bad dark footage, the clamp needs to be set lower. If the program doesn’t work with your stuff please post 5 frames and I’ll see why it breaks my program, but hmmm, at this juncture, I can’t really improve perfection.

hitting Caps lock immediatialy after RAM preview STILL does not stop expressions from disabling themselves, but clicking on the blue ram slider seems to work.

it just uses sampleimage so it should work in cs4 and cs5. It’s still in beta, so I’m still testing.
Anyone know how to keep expressions from disabling after you RAM preview? I might have to write a script gui that turns the expressions back on. Really annoying,:/

I really appreciate your feedback. You must have had really destroyed footage for it to trick my program. I spend a while trying to break it by ingesting 16mm, horribly underexposed video, so I’m definately going to go to archive.org to test furthur.
And sometimes the expressions disable themselves when you stop a RAM preview, because my computer is slow(I hate that!), so watch out for that in gg,exposure,finaloutput rebelcc levels,shadowhighlight.
Does the white balance and/or flicker perform worse with gamma clamping on?
And does convert to keyframes and easy ease help? That seems like a logical solution.

If you have some really bad footage where the exposure or sun changes really big, use the new gamma clamp slider which clamps gamma and then turns on black point restore mode. Still fully automatic!
