i’ve have really good luck timewarping 50% in 50% timestretched layer then setting 3000 shutter blur. i then add an adjustment layer set as color with median effect.
what it does is slow down the flicker by interpolating time, blur the lines with adaptive motion blur, and smooth the chroma tears by smearing the color channel.
only needs a simple garbage matte. works with really bad stuff

I don’t think a fast prime will help give a high depth of field. You’d need f/11 anyway. no point in paying more.
and actually a wide angle lens like 15mm will give more depth of field than a large mm lens.
since you don’t want shutter blur, I still think you’re stuck with high ISO noise or a roto matte, or buy some lights!

the only obvious thing left is high ISO and then use neatvideo to remove the grain afterwards.
or.. you could shoot the sign focused separately as a matte then track it back in post.
I would do a test before committing to either of these.

try importing a tiff sequence and rendering out a tiff sequence. that will isolate any codec issues with interframe codecs or unsupported ones.
Are you using PNG?, they are not thread safe for multiprocessing.
Also, check with AE’s recommended RAM allocation. -

here’s an underwater ae 5.5 project i made. It creates a missing red channel by guessing the differences of green and blue. I have no idea if it is what you want, but it looks interesting.

google the really long error code. it will say ram or video card or hd.
do a burn in test of your parts with hardware testing software to discover parts that overheat or fail under stress. -
I don’t know exactly how you want to perceive the cord, but one way I imagined was the cord closest to the usb port was slightly stiff and the far tail was way looser. I would apply starch to the front and the tail was much more waggy using this elastic example.
