Sorry I didn’t respond sooner, but I couldn’t open up the link you sent. Hope you were able to get it to work in Color.

I never got an error message when sending Red _M files into Color.

I have had clips glitch sometime, but if you download ColorFixer that will take the glitches out.

What you would do first is send your FCP sequence to Color, make size changes to it, if needed then save it, close out of Color, open ColorFixer and put that project through it, then open it up in Color. This will help.

Not sure if this is the same problem that you are having.

As far as editing with Red footage goes, you can work with the _M files, bring them into Color and enlarge them to High Res, color correct, render them, and send them back to FCP. That will work.

    Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks. I’ll try that. What if the file you have is all ready rendered?

Thanks, I’ll look into that. Would someone from the Apple store be good or at Best Buy’s Geek Squad?

I look at Red rushes. How long does it take to convert in that program. I’m looking for the quickest way, I have a big client I’m working for and they want something by next week. Someone also mentioned to download Colorfixer if I have issues with the _M files in Color (which I did).

  • To answer this question, I believe I have dual core one, but I’ll have to double check. The company bought the computer.

  • Hey everyone, thank you all for your responses, they been very helpful. I’m doing lots of research but still have some questions. Right now my main concern is importing and exporting the footage. I’m going to be doing Log and Transfer and set it to ProRes HQ I believe. One question about that, does that create a whole new file which will fill up more space?

Also, if I were to edit the _M files (which are the reference ones) how do I export them. I know you can create an EDL but I never done that before, just wonder the steps in that.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Good point on using a monitor with RED footage. I do agree with you. I always check on a NTSC monitor after I cut a rough draft to see how it looks. Right now I don’t have an HD monitor, but I believe the person that will be doing the color correcting for this project will have one. I believe I am getting the video card, just have to find the best one at a good price. I heard blackmagic is all right. Any thoughts on that card? Thanks.
