Does your DPX files have timecode in the headers ? If not the EDL is not going to be of much use.

I suggest you turn off the sleep mode in Energy Saver. Put your system into screen saver mode instead if you don’t want to burn the screen. And make sure in the Energy Saver to disable the hard disk sleep mode.

What I notice is that both Motion and FCP tends to fight for the video output and can end up with the application becoming very sluggish. If you need both to be running, when you switch from FCP to Motion, turn off the External Video to OFF and then switch to Motion.
I don’t think you need to do the same for Motion when you switch back to FCP coz by then you would’ve set to External Video to All Frames which then FCP will take over. But remember to switch is to OFF again when you go back to Motion.
CMD+F12 is your best friend when you do the switching.

Avid Xpress does not support the Decklink card so you’re not going to get it to work.

Hi Arnie,
The deck is a DigiBeta DVW-A500P (PAL model). Will try with another deck to see if it is consistent.

I would suggest that you do a dual boot OS – one for Avid Xpress and one for FCP. You’re gonna problem if you have Avid Xpress and FCP co-exist in the same OS, and you’ve problem encountered one already.

I’ve also noticed the same behaviour that if you switch in the AJA Control Panel to 1080 29.97, select the 525i downconvert and then switch back to 1080 23.98, the downconvert selection will remain at 525i but is now greyed out but it will still spit out a downconverted SD 525i signal and the playback looks fine to me.
Not sure if this is a hidden feature.

Hi Bryan,
If that’s all you are going to connect, the Workgroup Videohub will fit your requirement very well. But remember that the I/O is purely SDI (SD/HD) so if you have any analog sources you will need an AD/DA like the Multibridge Pro.
