I think you will find that the iPod is probably only good for DV. I doubt laptop hard drives can be fast enough for DVCPRO HD. Nice try, though. Can anybody else be more technically specific than me? Im pretty sure this is the case.

Still, it is major news, even if we have to wear a full size FW drive on our body. I’d do it in a second for DVCPRO HD at $6000. In a heartbeat. Are you kidding?

Yes Jan, that is indeed helpful. You often are 🙂

Did everybody read the post from Jan clearly?

    Thanks,

Well this really is the elephant siting in the room. I wonder when we will find out about a portable live recording hard drive solution. Right now it looks like almost $4000 for 16 minutes of recording.

Where can we get clarification on this???

  • Thanks Mark,

I guess the next week will tell whether any of the new Final Cut Pro uses background 64 bit applications.

Interesting. Nothing is simple, is it?

That is good to know. I’m going to be editing a show this Summer, shot on HDV, and edited in the DVCPRO HD codec (in FCP 5). I was looking for a forum here, after spending much time over at the always entertaining HDV forum, about DVCPRO HD work-flows. It looks like both the Varicam and P2 forums are a composite of this need.

The article on DVCPRO HD workflow over at kenstone.net has been helpful as well.

What has been your experience of an HDV clip that has been rendered in a DVCPRO HD timeline? Say with a CC filter on it. Many artifacts?

And did you know you cant text search markers in the browser? Wha???

And Log Notes dont wrap in a paragraph. We like long Log Notes.

    I LOVE FCP, but…
