[Sanjin Jukic] “SBP2 (whatever that is) “

I wonder if that should be USB-P2 and if it’s a way to transfer from P2 cards via USB???

SPB2 is the protocol FireWire storage device talks. AVC is the protocol FireWire cameras, decks and converters talk. So it is possible to download footage from inserted P2 to a computer via FW and it is possible to transfer footage from tape to a computer via FW. The big question is whether AVC support DVCPRO50 and HD or not to allow E-E recording in this format. Since there are DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO-HD decks with FW it is highly likely.

The 1394 will allow for streaming video from the camera in n of the DVCPRO codecs or DV. No problem at all.

    Hope that helps,

Well this really is the elephant siting in the room. I wonder when we will find out about a portable live recording hard drive solution. Right now it looks like almost $4000 for 16 minutes of recording.

I assume you were trying to say “any” of the DVCPRO formats…so you could hook up a drive out in the field and record straight to it?

Actually Chris if you were to record in 24P on the P2 card in 720P you could get close to 20 minutes per card on an 8 GB card. These will be available about the same time as this camera. We are a partner with Focus Enhancements so those of you that want a live 1394 to hard drive solution, my feeling that too will be possible about the same time.

    Hope that helps,

Yes Jan, that is indeed helpful. You often are 🙂

Did everybody read the post from Jan clearly?

    Thanks,
