Let’s not forget the CC Light Rays and CC Light Burst, part of the very useful Cycore Effects which are on your AE disk as an extra install.

When you say “a” project, do you mean “any” project?
Have you tried trashing your preferences file?
Have you tried launching AE, then opening a project from within AE (via File->Open Project)?
Do you have only one version of AE on your machine, or are there other versions (including render engine)?… hmm … what else ..

I think this will help; it’s just not as pretty as it should (will) be.
Feel free to let me know what you think.-CG

[Encheval] “Anyone using PFHoe (little brother of PFTrack and PFMatch ?) ? “
Sorry for missing this post until now.
PFHoe is my current favorite software. I am almost finished writing a little tutorial for PFH and AE. Keeping it from being ready for primetime are some missing movie graphics (I wanted to shoot a few shots that really illustrate some key points, but haven’t had a chance to shoot yet). Apart from these missing graphics, there’s some useful information. If I see some interest expressed here I’ll quickly publish the site (albeit with graphics missing) and hurry up with the final pretty pictures.

[Matthias] “What i want is to automatically generate keyframes between given keyframes”
I think I understand what you need. You have keyframes and you want to create the keyframes inbetween these existing keys? For that, you can select the property in question, do an Add Expression (Animation menu), which will create a default expression for the property that simply references the current value(s), then do a Animation>Keyframe Assistant>Convert Expression to Keyframes. The expression, which is now disabled, can be deleted if you want.

tillkee,
Steve is right – I think you should give a few more details about what isn’t working for you.
I don’t know PFTrack as well as I know its little brother PFHoe, but PFHoe is essentially a simplified version of PFTrack and I know it has some of the same quirks (frankly I found the PFTrack demo to be unusably buggy, but that could just be my amazing luck with software I can’t afford :-)).
I am almost done with a tutorial for PFhoe+AE — I just need to create a little more graphic content for it. If you like, I can send you some of the text for it. It might help.
For now I will say that there are normally two issues with PFHoe (and probably PFTrack) when working with AE:
1) scale. You need to grab the ‘ground plane’ scale handle and pull it way down just past the point where the ‘ground plane’ graphic disappears (i know; this is awful – but you can work with it as long as you always leave this for the last stage before saving your project).
2) camera timing. Usually the camera that is imported into After Effects is either one frame off throughout, or loses sync by one frame within the first 10 frames of the shot. It’s pretty easy to split the camera layer and slip the sync and change the ins and outs on the two layers to make them work.
You need to see the trackers composited with the shot in ae, which means that, before dealing with either of the above issues, you have to replace all the null layers with one solid (do a ‘replace footage’), and make sure the the camera works with those trackers before you pick the appropriate tracker(s) from which you get your position(s) for whatever you’re adding to the shot.
