If you start full screen center and adjust scale over time, it will go straight in as you want.

Drop one of your clips onto the “Make a sequence to match” icon in the bottom of the browser. APP will create the best match up for your footage.

Use the default mpeg preview files – these are for ease of editing only – THEN, export your master, it will use the original files.

Changing your preview files to h.264 or whatever to match your footage only puts more demand on the computer to play the sequence. When you export, you have to “re-compress” anyways.

The Promise Pegasus is what I would recommend for TB raid.

Raid’ing 2 or more externals will not be wise IMO.

You can get by with one FW800 drive 7200rpm. With a 60D you can L&T to ProresLT.
Don’t edit off your internal OS drive.

If you really want to step up (And I suspect you don’t) Use that ThunderBolt Connection on the iMac and get a TB raid. This will yield blazing fast through-put.

Could be your preview file format is set differently. But honestly, we work with the same format. Let the preview files be default to mpeg.

Create your edit Export to a Master, there is will render from the original and maintain quality.

If you’re going out to DVD or Tape, you will not see those edges on the final.

But you got it right, you can zoom in a little to hide it. Like if you’re playing it back on a comp…

No, I get it, Realtime no issues, It’s when you scrub the Play machine, that the record machine might freak b/c it wants to “lock” every frame coming over SDI…

I have recorded from one NLE to another on occasion w/o issue. I have not tried the scrubbing you mention.

Yes, you can do it. Turn off Machine Control on the recording machine.
