Just give em a ProRes HQ clip.

Change the sequence settings and re render, then export current settings, self-contained.

Do u have a bd-r drive in your comp? Laptop – no.
But, simplist way is from fcp create bluray. It will make it fit to disc.

If u scale a clip in fcp. It is done there. Compressor create/converts to the files u ask it to.

Straight to a set top DVD recorder would be the best. However, look up the old AJA iola. You can get em used, cheap. I have one if you want it.

Drop a clip on the icon that lets APP create a new sequence to match auto for you.

You need to stop making any format BUT mpeg2 for DVD.
There are presets to get you started.
File Export Media from APP.

Export your sequence to AME and choose DVD preset.
Adjust data rate to fit on one disc.
