I have to ask; what is the quality of ur jpegs? Are they sized to big or to small?

You should be able to edit – interlaced – with jpegs and have it look good.

Use the DV Animorphic easy setup. If you have a lot of Grfx I would change ur sequence settings to DV 50 and re-render after the edit is locked. This will not make the DV footage better but the gfrx will be.

Output timeline “current setting” reference file is fine. No need for “self contained”.

Drop into compressor. Choose 16X9 Lower fields

Choose a setting that matches your program length.

Adjust your bitrate for best quality and still fit on disc. Select 2 pass VBR Motion “Best”

Change “Frame control” to custom and the best on all 3 options.

Audio compression to NONE

Normalize set to -31 for audio

Your video should look fine.
If you have almost 2 hours in length or Longer….then you’re probably going to have to live with some artifacts on a dark background on a DVD from DV footage.

Make your sequence match your clips and you’ll be a lot better off.

Can u render 720X480 in ur animation program? .jpg r no problem.

Forcing it anamorphic will always require rendering. If you must have this and cannot create this in ur animation program…ur in 4 a uphill battle.

You need a HDV deck/camera to play the tapes. Just use his camera to load the footage.

504 Hours of DV footage is about 4.8TB of drive space just for the raw.

You can’t edit the .ASF files can you?

You’ll have to convert to DV or something. You better plan a couple weeks to complete this job.

Edit in 1080p, 24fps

Export your timeline current settings – reference file.

Drop that ref file into compressor.

Choose Best 90min. 16:9

If your clip is short – increase bit rate some.

In frame controls choose best

I’ve worked with footage recorded on a FireStor that had like a digital glitch/spike thing that was so loud it scared the Bleep outta me.

ya 40 isn’t going to do much. When we shoot on the Varicam for a slo-mo shot we shoot @ 60fps. You’ll have to apply the speed change in the time line.

Are you going to a SD-DVD? Then your Hi-def video will be displayed letterbox on SD tv’s most likely.

Yes, use compressor, export a ref file from the timeline and drop it into compressor and choose a DVD setting that best matches your program length.

As for web, there are many better options then compressor. What format do you need? .flv, .swf, .mov, .wmv, .mpg ?

Check on the Vimeo website for recommended codec, file types for upload and use those.
