Always Export using “Current Settings”

Drop file into Compressor.
Turn on frame control and set to best.
Adjust data rate to program length.
Try and Use all the Disc space on a DVD-R.
If your program is Interlaced – keep it that way for DVD.

De-interlace if making a Web Version.

On Crips they shoot A LOT of steadi-cam footage.

You can rent a Steadi-Cam Jr. for a small amount.

On-cam light would be wise. A light kit would probably be handy as well.
Someone to help with gear.

I think they shoot with at least 2 cams and maybe sometimes 3 as well.

You need Deck Control (Machine Control) between:

1. Computer (usb adaptor (Belkin)) and the Deck.

OR

2. Between the AJA IO and the Deck.

Compressor is an application. It comes With FCP.
Have you ever launched it?

It has presets all setup for you to convert and compress video files into all sorts of other types of files.

Run it thru compressor. Choose a preset. Render.

That doesn’t make sense. If you fully render the effect and it looks right.
How are you viewing the outputted file? Are you out-putting using “Current Settings” ?
What if you re-import the master and view it?

Make a digital MOV master of the finished program.

Keep card media master or the raw footage tapes from the camera.
Keep projects backed up. They link to the masters for re-loading if need be.

I’m not 100% sure on that one. You can, it probably will be fine.

If not, you can drop a 1920 HD clip in a 1440 sequence. (same thing really)
Try re-sizing 1 clip first and see how it plays/looks.
