Your post lacks crucial info:

What is the format of you footage?
What frame rate was your footage shot?
Interlaced or progressive?

What are your encode settings in Encore b/4 you import your AVI?

exported the files to Movie Microsoft DV Avi

Why are you doing this?
Can’t you export straight to Adobe Media Encoder from the APP sequence?
I don’t know if you can w/ older version.

You’d think if the heads needed replacing panny would have said so.

I had a CCD block go on me years ago and I was getting bad lens flare lighting streaks when I took it in. This was on a Sony though.

P2 is not dying and Panny is in full support of the P2 format.

P2 is for the professional line

sd cards are for the pro-sumer line

Bluray?
Digital file?

What are you creating?

Any of these can be fed into a projector, lets say, and displayed on a very large screen.

Do you have a Black Burst Sync Gen?
Hook it up to the edit and the beta.

Dub the VHS to the Beta – No Computer involved.

Digitize from beta to edit.

You failed to mention your sequence settings….????

Does that deck have FW input? Do you have a camera w/ FW you can plug into it for another test?

Your sequence needs to be DV NTSC 48k to match.
