Ah, Gotcha. Well, one option is to buy a cheap palmcorder for a 100-300 bucks. Has a FW port on it.
Plays DV tapes all day.

OR

A Used DV deck on Ebay, pretty cheap nowadays.

Composite is a horrible way to capture video. It is the lowest common denominator. Converting it to Component will help you connect but will do nothing for your signal quality. I’d push for a new camera…

I’ve done the the car dealership thing – it’s fleeting @ best.
Tell them your here for them if they need something and go for your own way.

Go freelance, build your own biz. If the dealership looses their in house guy, you’ll get some work from them while they scramble.

APP does work with AJA Products.
Buying CS5.5 now for 1/2 off is wise, as you’ll get CS6 or CS6.5 for the upgrade price.

In Avid, relink, point to the intended use files.

You Shot HD, You should Edit HD.

Now, those stills seem small. Can you get originals?
Can you resize?

If the stills need to be the best with the current size, I might edit in a SD sequence. DV NTSC Easy setup.

If you do this, when the edit is locked, change the sequence to 10 bit Uncompressed and re render all and then export using “Current settings”.

Take that file into compressor to create your deliverables.

BUT, My first choice would be to edit in a 720p sequence. Drop the 1080 in there and get larger stills. Make sure all the Frame Rates Match!

What specs does the festival give?
Are you referring to a “Drop Box” account?

Did you try .h264 mov file?

We shoot AVC-Intra on P2.
APP brings in the native files and plays sequence w/o render.

Look @ the HPX250 for your camera choice. You’ll need to budget for P2 Cards though.
