Add a displacement map effect on your BG. In the effect settings, use the logo letters layer as the actual displacement map. Crank up the values.

You could duplicate your top layer a number of times. Set each duplicate to one of your preferred transfer modes. Then write an expression that changes the opacities of the layers.

No one in the thread asked you to pick interpolation type. In fact I think I said don’t bother unless you are changing the type (linear, etc). You were saying you were doing roto frame by frame which won’t interpolate because it doesn’t have any frames to do any interpolating if your keys are one frame over from each other. Simply space out your keys and it will interpolate. That’s all we were saying.

It’s in the Cycore folder of your AE 6.5 or AE 7 install disk. If you didn’t install the CC effects, you are missing out on a LOT of cool plug-ins. While you’re there install Color Finesse as well.

When you turn on just one light in AE everything goes black because similar to the auto light in C4D, the 100% ambiance turns off. Go to your to your AE project and add an Ambient light at 100%.
I’d also post this in AE cow since I think that’s where the problem is.
