I posted last week about rotoscoping some things. I still didn’t understand why people said make ur masks every few frames then go to animation keyframe and interpolate. Anything that you do in AE automatically changes over keyframes. Like if u have a postion of a title and then at 5 seconds position it somewhere else, then throughout the 5 seconds the title will take 5 seconds to move to the next position. If this is interpolating then why must one go to animation keyframe and choose interopolate to track the mask?

On a side note if anyone could point me in the right direction on tutorials or places I can learn how to do some match moving or camera tracking I would greatly apreciate it. Is Motion tracking discussed in the Meyer’s books?

    Thanks again guys

No … we were saying that you should allow AE to interpolate between the keyframes normally. Let it do what it normally does. If you had set a keyframe every frame, then you would not be allowing AE to interpolate.

However, when you select a keyframe and select “interpolation” you are changing the type of interpolation that AE uses for that specific keyframe. We did not ask you to do that.

Check the help or manual for more info on keyframe interpolation.

No one in the thread asked you to pick interpolation type. In fact I think I said don’t bother unless you are changing the type (linear, etc). You were saying you were doing roto frame by frame which won’t interpolate because it doesn’t have any frames to do any interpolating if your keys are one frame over from each other. Simply space out your keys and it will interpolate. That’s all we were saying.

has a few books listed, as well as great tutorials for use with the program demo.
