You would still want to use Color Finesse in AE as AE doesn’t have any modern color correction utilities, just old school Photoshop correctors. So if you have the option to just do it in FCP, then I would install the FCP version of Color Finesse 2.0 into that. Even with the Duck, you may find the whole process is a major pain. The 3-way Color Corrector in FCP is about useless except for the most minor of tweaks as it doesn’t react or look like any other known color corrector. It’s just plain awful. But CF 2.0 is fantastic.

You can’t hook up a broadcast monitor using Firewire, so how are you getting from your firewire deck or bridge into the monitor?

Just to make sure you are watching your graphics through an uncompressed card to that broadcast monitor through either SDI or Component video. If you’re looking at composite, all kinds of bad things happen.

I did almost the exact thing you describe. Like Mylenium suggested, I played with Fractal noise first, but ultimately what looked the most realistic was one of the presets in Combustion(Particle illusion) like Yikes suggested. Just thought I’d share.

You may have more luck using a particle generator to do the same thing like Particle Playground or best of all Particular.

The Panopticum lens plug-in has chromatic abberation as a parameter built in called “Color deviation of the glass”.

I’m sure it will play. But since I didn’t compress it for web and make it progressive download I didn’t want it to seem like the link doesn’t work as it sits there for probably a good while.
