Render file – got it. I understand that now.
As far as the now offline clip – It did have a unique name that the attempted batch capture should not have imposed upon in any way. Plus, it was the first clip (of 6) captured when I first started the project. The clips captured subsequently all had different file names – I don’t know how my latest attempted capture would/could have played seek and destroy with the first clip that is now missing.
Did I inadvertently point my latest capture towards or somehow over that original clip? And if it had somehow attempt to capture using the same file name, and given that the latest capture was aborted, would that then leave me without anything..?
It just seems a stretch to me that a) it would be able to overwrite the original clip – unless I intentionally named the attempted capture by the same name and b) that I would now be left with nothing – as if the original file never existed.
I know FCP mildly well, but I’m hardly an expert on it. Is there a protocol step or specific reason as to how I may have sabotaged the original file that is now gone?
