Actually, with a little modification, this is what I do. Although instead of capturing the DV material via SDI I use component through a DeckLink SP, and all looks good. But I will check out that thread about component vs. SDI.

    Hey Mike,

Maybe you should try another FW bus, Lacie makes a pretty cheap card with 3 outlets on it.

    Julie,

Very funny, I would send him a few bucks, can we mail it to him?

    Mike,

The Canopus box is the likely culpret. When I had one hooked up I could not control my DSR11. So I enabled EE in that deck and got rid of the Canopus altogether. Now I can capture from analog sources looped through the Sony, including Beta, VHS and DVDs. It all works great.

    Mike,

This sounds like it’s dropping frames, in all likelyhood, you can solve it by selecting all tracks and go to Sequence> Render All> mixdown.

    Richard,

YES, this is the best way that Zolotroph explained. I owe you one from that audio thread, thanks so much ’cause it’s all working great.

You can do all your projects for DVD in the DV setting, and when done convert the sequence to an uncompressed codec. Render, make a movie to put in Compressor and make your DVD, your graphics will look fantastic.

Zolotroph, glad to hear from someone else who’s taking advantage of this really cool workflow.

I have Tiger running on my secondary machine, FCP seems okay with it, just some quirks with h264 is all so far.

    Hey Walt,

Can you explain how this monitor interacts with broadcast NTSC specs? I mean, this is a computer monitor no?

    Hey Bob,

Weird, but paste attributes will copy and paste some keys, but not all. You have to play around with it.
