    As I understand it, Avid connect only works with Fusion Studio, not with the free version.

  • Yup. Pretty sweet. To switch between them its just Menu->Window->(your project at the bottom of the menu window) or just command + ~ (tilde key)

    Copy and paste between them is a snap!

    Ditto on smart collections and using keywords to organize your footage. You can create keywords before you start importing and then apply them once you’ve brought your footage into FCP.

    Another thing you can do is to pre-organize your footage in the finder into folders with names and then during import check the ‘import as keyword collections’ flag when you import. Your media should then show up in FCP tagged with keywords that have the name of the folder they were contained in.

    One more suggestion: re-name your events! The default event name is the day the event was created but its very simple to rename them as something that holds more importance for you.
