Can i just clarify: I’m rendering the projects to MPG2 for DVD. I normally work with just .AVI material on the timeline plus a few Pro titler events – this is when i see 100%. The two projects that i’m currently working on consist of about additional tracks of .png files, some continuous, some just short events, as well as the .avi video.

    Cheers

    Chris.

ah ha, my HMC footage is shot in 50p and i’ve been having the properties as 25p (PAL land, obviously). ‘Preview’ must economise by just having 25 fps, as well as lower res etc, as it’s fine at 50p.

    Thanks for that.

Not too sure why it would happen with the DVX footage as that’s 25p though.

Mmmm – i think so. I always shoot Progressive, i always have the project properties as Progressive, and the footage properties also show Progressive. Yet i’ve just changed the properties to upper field, then lower field, and both seem to yield better results than Progressive. That’s just weird.

    Thanks for both answers.

Mike, that’s exactly what i meant. I knew there would be some way around it. Thanks. I was surprised not to find a specific command somewhere in the menu as i thought it would be a common need, and also something that would be quite simple to program into Vegas.

Perhaps it’s just me that encounters this situation and perhaps i need to sort out the way i edit!!

Great answer John, many thanks for that.

I have Pro, and have just tried the nested way but for some reason vegas crashes around 8% into the render because of an ‘exception’! I use nested projects quite often in smaller commercial jobs, where films are normally only 10 mins long, but have never tried to render 1.5 hours of nested projects before – computer doesn’t seem to like it. Anyway, that’s another problem for another forum (maybe). It will probably all be ok tomorrow, such is the nature of computers…

You’re right. I’ve just checked and i’m still using 8a on the PC, but 8b on the laptop.

    Many thanks Theo.

    Chris.

  • I have just done the authoring bit through another program (TMPGEnc DVD Author 2) and the results are the same, and only when played though WMP.

Oh yeah, the text is flickering rather than flashing.
