Thanks very much to all for the advice. I scaled the images to under 2000 and everything cleared up and worked. Lesson learned.

Thanks, I’ll try this. One of my images was 13MB. I scaled it smaller but still have the problem. I’ll try converting all to png.
    thanks

The audio finally cuts out because I had to pot it down completely. The noise was quite audible over the in-house speakers in the medium sized classroom.
    Thanks for your comments.

Yes, I’ve hit ‘add’. There’s just tons of unused footage – which is why I chose to use the ‘existing media’ option. I am clearing out a decent amount of space – but not as much as I thought.
The footage is recorded in XDCAM-EX and I keep my sequences in that codec.

Somehow my images did not attach before. Here they are now I hope. My clips have reel numbers.
    thanks

  • Shane – I agree with your use of 2 cameras, cutting from a wider to a closer shot. I like that very much. My post is in reference only to the use of 2 camera angles when one of them is a pretty extreme side angle view of the interview subject. I find that I don’t mind the use of such an angle when there is a true edit on the cut – but for some reason I find it objectionable when this sort of 2nd angle is used in real time.

  • Thanks, very interesting – I like the rhetorical uses for the various metaplasmus. While I see the usefulness of changing word spellings for a deeper communication, I’m failing to find its corollary in this particular visual style. I fail to find added meaning or depth in the visual language – but I’m happy to have discovered metaplasmus.

Thanks, I’ll try this in a couple of days. Right now we’re trying to hit a deadline.

Yes, the files are mov and mp4, but I already tried reconnecting single clips as you suggest and they still won’t reconnect. The funny thing is, FCP finds the proper clip, but doesn’t reconnect it.
