It sounds like the BMD 3D Studio Express would be the best fit for my original requirements and budget. Of course, it isn’t a shipping product yet and it sounds like there could be some initial stability concerns. Other than the price of course, I also like that it would work with all 3 NLEs and wouldn’t need ant separate boot drives, etc. That works well with my workflow.
Other than that it sounds like the AJA ioXT would probably be my “best” solution, if not for being more than 3 times the dollars I had hoped to spend.
Good food for thought. I appreciate the input.

Is that a good product? I don’t need it right away, so if it’s worth waiting for it, I can.
If I raised my budget a bit would it be worth it? What else would I be getting?

I am in the Bay Area and have used them before. Their prices are normally pretty good, but their service always left a really bad taste in my mouth. I have had better luck with MST Productions (east bay) or Dub Express (SF). Both have given me much better service and are about the same price if not only a tad bit more.

I have used a company called MST Productions several times. I saw someone else recommend them in another thread and I have been really pleased with them. They are much better than a few other similar companies I have tried over the years. You might give them a look. I think it’s https://www.mstproductions.com.

Hi Michael,
I took your advice and had the video encoded by a compression house. I just authored the DVD in DVD-SP and need to restrict it to Region 4. When I look at the Disc Info in Apple DVD Player, it still says it is a Region 0 DVD. Can you not specify Regions in DVD-R? Does it only work in replicated discs or should it work when burned?
Thanks! C.

I tried another handful of things yesterday:
1) I played with different settings in compressor. All lead to the same problem.
2) Tried bringing the Quicktime movie into DVDSP directly and letting it encode it there. Still have the same problem.
3) Took the Quicktime movie into Toast and let it encode and burn it. Problem gone. I had to get my master out yesterday, so I went with this and made it work.
Very strange indeed. Thanks to both of you for your help troubleshooting.

In my “Sequence > Settings” section, the audio settings is set to 48k, 16-bit, channel grouped. I was expecting to see it say “32 bit floating point” and just change it to match the “16 bit integer” of the source footage. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate your time and expertise.

Everything is 29.97.
I did notice that there are some differences in Audio Formats. My sequence is 32-bit floating-point and my source footage is 16 bit integer. This is lingo I am not familiar with.

Hi Dave, The source footage is 48k as well.

Budget is low, ideally under $500. I would like to connect with HDMI, but component would be ok if I had to. The display is 1080P, so again, that would be my preference, but the content is not anything spectacular or breathtaking, mostly just graphics, pictures and text type of things. So 1080i or even 720p would be alright if need be. Thanks.
