I have the project file for you to look at. I only included a couple of the pics, but you’ll get the idea. If you go into the main comp and start to move the camera around or just reposition any of the precomps, you’ll start to see body parts detaching.Your right I could have created the multiple layers in PS but I just knew I could work faster in AE creating the mask.

My sequence is set as Avid 1:1x and plays as real time. If I change it to DV NTSC then my clips become unrendered. The one thing I noticed is that when there is movement in my clip there is distortion in the object moving. Example. One clip is of someone playing pool. When I cut to the CU of the pool balls being hit and rolling down the table the edges become jagged. That happens in the Avid 1:1x sequence. However If I move that clip into a DV NTSC sequence then render the clip those jagged edges on the ball moving are gone. I don’t know why but I will probably edit in the Avid 1:1x sequence and then when I have it completed move it to a DV NTSC sequence, render it and export to compressor from there. The other thing about the Avid 1:1x sequence is that when I add an effect to the clip it becomes unrendered. No matter what the effect is. Hope some of this info is useful to you.

They must have given me the wrong info on the file because in FC it reads the file as an Avid 1:1x. So in the timeline it plays in real time, unless I add a filter to it. Then I have to render it out. So thankfully I will not have to go through compressor.
Thanks everyone. Sorry the solution was as simple as a restart.

Well I feel like a donkey. The restart has the file working in FC. It was working in the player so I just figured there was something wrong with FC reading the codec.

Thanks Ben & Shane for responding. Ben- I have already tried downloading that codec from avid’s website and it allowed me to view the file in the qt player but I can’t view it in FCP. I will check the other threads. If you know of a good one please pass it along.
Shane- I will try to get the PE versions.
Thanks

Thanks guys. I figured I would have to buy the pro version of flip4mac. Didn’t want to add cost to the project. I have tried to get them an avi but I can not get an export that works for them in that format. They can only use avi, wmv, or MPEG-1. The only export that I have been able to make that works for them is wmv. They are editing in Windows movie maker so already it is not an ideal situation. Unless you have an export that makes an avi that will work in movie maker, I am open to suggestions. When they open my avi’s they get an error message that says codec is incompatible.
