Here’s hoping! Now if Sony could just patch 50mbps into all the SxS card based cameras or just the EX3 then it would be high five’s all round! come on Sony make my month!

There’s a guy on this forum Ian Cook I believe. He works for Sony he mentioned a few weeks back that something would be announced/demo’d at NAB he didn’t mention when it would release hopefully this has changed to being launched at the show, as I’m sure were feeling the same woe’s at the mo

I was also there but didn’t pop in but the fact that BVE and the Northern version (which i did a promo for last Nov) are the only shows like this in the UK and Apple were clearly pushing FCPX in that way rather than the way’s Adobe and Avid handled their stands suggested to me people’s fears of Apple abandoning the pro market might be a bit wide of the mark.
Was a lil disappointed in the show itself to be honest I was hoping for some announcements though plenty of C300’s to have a play with and that low light performance really is incredible.

February 8, 2012 at 11:47 am in reply to: 10.0.3 Considerably Slower, Re rendering & importing/transcodingSaw on another thread someone saying about typing “purge” into terminal to free up more memory… out of pure frustration I gave this a go and… it seems to have worked! Currently running Firefox, mail, itunes, rendering at a normal speed in FCPX and no hint of slow down/beachballing/text waiting to play catch up.
My only concern would be does purging the memory cause any knock on effects too anything else in the system? As this seems to good to be true and I’ve always been wary of messing around with command lines.

I stuck with FCPX through all the initial problems but its been a week and nothing i simply cannot work professionally waiting 15+ seconds for the computer to register a backspace delete this section edit, whilst i background render the same 20sec clip i was 3hrs ago. Is there any hope for us early adopters being able to mail in there Shuttle 1’s for a chip upgrade? I’d happily pay for it though I’d prefer not to.

10k… doesn’t sound fair at all! in the UK. they’ll update my Ex3 as part of a service i think which costs maybe a couple of hundred (haven’t done it yet) Wouldn’t have thought it would be a different proceudure unless their replacing a board or something to a newer model. (in the ex’s case there is a hidden usb port on the camera which allows the user to do it yourself though the procedure has some risk)

January 4, 2012 at 12:54 pm in reply to: XDCAM PMW-EX3 in a smaller, lighter and more compact version? The Canon 305’s or wait for the C300 (though I’m not sure about the weight of the 305 or price of the C300) To be honest though I wouldn’t consider the EX3 to be the heaviest of cameras perhaps a gym membership or shoulder support would be your best bet. 🙂
Still good value in the Z7 as well also there’s the one with the funny name F something abit like the EX3 in terms of codec etc but with a larger sensor and flip up LCD

Seems my initial fear is not as doom and gloom as i thought after a few more restarts the project re appeared next to a copy with [1] next to it. (this shall promptly be getting duplicated) As far as I can tell the weird glitch with the clip only in the upper right corner appears to be some kind of render glitch as tweaking any effect parameters seems to reset it, unfortunatly this is a 30min ceremony so it’ll be another few hours before it finishes rendering.
It was all one clip though from a Sony EX3 rewrapped into .mov and then transcoded into pro res in FCPX. It’s my main camera and never seen that happen before.
I’m at a loss as to why there is suddenly so much to re render, my best guess would be i was blading some split clips earlier and have seen many glitches associated with those so perhaps it is best to avoid these until the forthcoming update.
