Hi Ian
I’d be happy to link it to you in the end I went with a file recovery company to salvage it. They did something using terminal to copy the file from one location to another (something find would not allow) which somehow fixed the issue.
So if anyone runs into this in the future it can be resolved in some form otherwise £90 fee

Content Browser will talk to the clip I cannot seem to be able to do what you mentioned without getting an access method.
It does however seem to play the clip to some degree albeit in a still image and jaggery few frames at a time of sound.
I keep getting a msg about access to the file or access being prohibited when attempting to open it in another folder via the import method. (Assuming I’m following it correctly.)

Hi Jeff
Yes it was kind of a stealthy update about 1-2months ago that I don’t think many people have discovered because of our tried and tested workflows.
My advice in short would be stick with what works. I’ve cut similiar shows with similiar file size clips in the .mov format and never run into this in nearly 2yr’s I’ll stick with what I know unfortunatly I left applying the effect til the last point in my process otherwise I could have jumped ship sooner

April 25, 2013 at 3:37 pm in reply to: Quicktime 10 crash whilst recording event audio recoveryThank you Jean I’ll have a dabble and see what I can do.
Absolutely agree this is probably the most careless I’ve been in just assuming something would work as Quicktime has never let me down before and was worried that the AA’s in my field recorder would wind down and catch me out.

Thanks Peter that does sound about right. cheers

I can’t recall exactly which interview it was but recording in HD from thunderbolt was def mentioned, was a bit unsure as to whether that meant full SSD access as I’d rather avoid ejecting and inserting where I can on something that may gradually wear down.
Absolutely agree on buying based on the specs at time.

Thanks Tom, would a multicam clip with timecode based around clip date, relink back to the originals in this way and allow viewing from the event browser as well as keeping the analysis size down?
Not the end of the world if it can’t be done but def submitting this as a suggestion to apple.

thanks but I meant so that the clips can be viewed in the event viewer the right way round as in when you adjust the clips in timeline setting

Just tried with a similiar project dumped 4 clips onto the timeline spanning about 4-5hrs and same problem on export seems something is broken in FCPX once projects go over a certain length. As shorter 1min highlight reel with FX, titles exported fine but all raw footage = bad…

XDCAM EX from a Sony EX3
Looks like I’m going to have to switch to Adobe put all the files into it and did an export, works fine…
My best guess is it’s something related to the pro res as exporting to DVD worked fine and exporting the clips individually as pro res was fine but exporting the whole project even when made up of the previously exported pro res’s never worked! (not sure if dvd export bypasses the mix it down to pro res first part of any export)
Would have liked to have gotten to the bottom of this but seems like jumping ship is the best option as I cant afford to be completing a project only to not be able toget it out of my system.
