Please god yes, I’d happily settle for DNX if there was a easy way to get it into FCP.

Until SSD’s come down in price HyperDeck need to implement something like this to really corner the market!

Is the contrast dial on the viewfinder turned to full? (I’m using an EX3) I’ve noticed mine makes a noise from the viewfinder when it is. I always assumed this was a feature Sony put in.

Open the SxS hatch and see if the noise is coming from within

Similar situation to yourself at the moment I’m debating a Libec Ls38 can be found for a smidge over £400 at HDEW, the only other option I can currently see in the price bracket is the Manfrotto 504HDV I had the opportunity to use one last week and wasn’t overly impressed, maybe I had the drag set wrong but the tripod head would pause then gradually slide to the opposite side I was panning at and then return, it was very smooth in doing this but would look terrible on the footage. (I’m not so familiar with the Manfrottos so I may have had it setup wrong, likewise it was a hire job so could have seen some serious mistreatment elsewhere.)

Hi David I’d already changed the project preferences to stereo before this happened.

think this is down again to another poor interface design by apple. despite changing the setting to dual mono. next to the clip name on the timeline it still states stereo.

Have tried restarting app, changing it back and forth still remains “stereo” and unable to split despite my best efforts.

yup I’ll definitely give you that one. turns out my original question may still be valid after all though.

I was able to split the clip of the first instance of it appearing using “breaking apart clip items” and thus seeing both tracks, but on later versions of the same clip it does not appear selectable. Many of these I have not touched with either keyframes or even raising the db of the clip they remain in their original state.

My workflow for putting this on the time line was to lengthen my angle of the ceremony and then select the audio corresponding to that clip length back over the top and sync it manually (pretty time consuming but I found auto sync lead to echo)

… Ah ok now I feel a bit stupid. I was trying to break apart a dual mono clip which I had already keyframed which is why it would not let me do this.

In future I’ll break apart first and then keyframe I do think apple should allow this option though, in case someone for whatever reason wanted to begin down one route and then changed their mind.

Thanks for stating what now feels like the obvious.

    Hi Daniel

Thanks for the quick response my comparisons are currently being performed by exporting an uncompressed quicktime and a photojpg and then clicking between the different quicktime files on the taskbar. (Hardly a technical approach but the results are obvious even to an untrained eye.)

I’ve experimented around with Avid’s setting in the photojpg filter settings but have had no success whatsoever. Any suggestions?
