Thanks Brian. I feel like an idiot. Mine opened with Connect Splines unchecked. I didn’t even test it with it checked. I totally missed it.

Wasted half a morning trying Connect Splines and the Bridge Tool to cover the holes with polygons.

There are so many little things that make things so much easier I seem to just miss.

    Thanks for your helping.

I need to do it on 3 total frames.

Were you able to do it by setup in Illustrator or did you do something in Cinema that let you get that look ?

    Thanks.

Yes. That’s exactly it. I can’t figure out how to get that. I kept getting the outline without the “cover” on the frame.

April 22, 2016 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Multi Shader on Grid Array Cloner

Ok. So I actually found a tutorial that explained how to do this for anyone who happens upon this and is stuck like I was.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj1AJlDkH7s

Basically you have to make sure the multi shader is set to color brightness.

From there add a random effector to the cloner. Turn the color mode on in the parameter tab.

In the effector tab change the random mode to sorted. That should fix it. If you want to move your textures around use the random seed.

For me I am using cubes and wanted the same texture on all sides so I had to make the projection UVW mapping.

Hope that helps anyone who gets stuck.

One way to do it is to make a rectangle shape that is a little longer then you want the smaller lines to move. Use the repeater and and then transform the repeater rotation till you get a full circle of lines

At this point you should see a bunch of lines rotated around a center point. You don’t want to do anything else to shape layer 1

Then make a circle shape and turn off the fill and add some stroke. The bigger the stroke the longer the lines will be as they move from the center to the outside. Animate the scale from 0-100 and use it as a matte so just stop the scaling wherever you want it to end . To get the lines to get smaller at the end you’ll have to animate the stroke width about halfway through the scale animation. I also added a Fast blur and animated that half way through as well as fading out the entire circle shape layer 2 frames before it stops moving.

I am not great at explaining what I did so this may make no sense whatsoever.

Lastly if you have a few bucks you can use AESweets to do something very similar with there explosions pack.

    Thanks.

I finally had a chance to mess with this today and got it to work. Appreciate the help.

One thing to add is to get a full on white plane I had to add a background and and composite it to the floor or the floor was picking up the light and having a gradient and it would’t matte 100%.

Is there a way around that besides adding the BG and compositing it that you know of ?

    Thanks.

Will this work with Cineware in Aftereffects ?

I am having a really hard time getting this to work. It just won’t transfer the shadow over
