So you aren’t interested in films, pictures, recordings or any other media from the past? Or you’re satisfied with limited access to them?
Perhaps that is the prevailing wind. It’s a fascinating thought.

“I guess for me the reality is that I just don’t go back to projects that often. I do use back-up copies with splits a lot, though. In fact, quite a bit. Maybe it is because I’ve hopped from and between so many incompatible NLEs over the years, and I’ve had to provide so much source material to others on those incompatible NLEs, that I’ve gotten used to it. And, I can make folders of media managed material with an AFF or XML list to take them somewhere else.
I don’t like the decision Adobe has made here, but mostly because I don’t like the way it seems to affect others. I, myself, am not feeling much of an upset. It may be that, after two years, I’m just upset-out.

FWIW, I like the idea, too. Plus, I can park a lot of my commonly used files, like SFX packages, in that little online closet that comes along with membership. No, it doesn’t rock the foundation of NLEville, but its a fun fact.

It doesn’t make much difference to me. I’ll continue to keep one foot in Premiere and the other in Media Composer. And, of course FCP 7 for those who still want me to use it.
My biggest concern is that this move will slow or stop the adoption of Premiere in my end of the industry. That would be sad, because I think it is really well suited to replace Legacy. Also, while I like to use Media Composer and Premiere about the same, I think the next version of Premiere will put me squarely in the Premiere camp for my personal use.
Overall, it would just be a bummer if this decision derailed Premiere. But, for me personally; no, it will not make me consider X, and generally, not change my plans at all.

Actually, it will be supported, just not upgraded.

It’s not about the money. It’s about who controls access to your digital property.

I’m ambivalent. None of us actually owns the software now. We license it. I can see Adobe’s point, as to why to do this. And, I can see value for me in the approach. I wish, for the sake of adoption, it had been less drastic. But maybe in the long run, that’s a good thing too.
I’m not thrilled about it, but I’m much less pissed about it than I thought I would be.

Hey Chris majorly OT, but what ep are you up to over there? Is it the same as the ones airing in the UK now?
Are you a post 2005 fan or were you into the classic series as well?
“The Doctor is never OT. We just saw something set back in the 1890’s at a Wellville-from-Hell establishment with the lizard lady and the potato-headed warrior dude. If my daughter was close at hand, she could tell you the name of the episode, as well as shame me for not knowing the names of the galactic races that the two aforementioned characters belong to.
Well, when I was a kid I used to be a big fan of the 4th doctor. We got reruns of him of him on weekends, over here on PBS. T’was a blast. And it has been an even greater blast to share Doctors 9-11 with my daughter. I fear the quality is ebbing a bit this season, but the new companion is a sweetie.

Indeed. My fourteen year old and I are about to watch Doctor Who, as it plays in its proper time slot because its an event for us, then we’ll watch Warehouse 13 as a download from iTunes. Then, she will no doubt retire to join other nerd fighters and watch her favorite youtube podcast by the Vlogbrothers, while I catch up with Game of Thrones, on Demand. Or maybe I’ll pop over to Lynda and do a little Premiere polishing.
