[kim krause] “pointless? the whole point is to make people think and get them out of their lazy ass comfort zones. and i’d love to know what words i’ve twisted around…maybe i read things differently and respond in the manner i do because of that but it is no way meant to twist as you imply. i simply read the words, interpret the meaning then respond. in fact quite often i am the one being interpreted incorrectly or misquoted…thats where superior logic comes in…hmmm maybe i should be spock and craig can be kirk! fascinating! burp, fart…oops sorry i was just releasing some gas form this forum!
“Okay, Spock, than lets just leave it at: I simply read your words, interpreted the meaning, then responded.

[kim krause] “so what you’re really saying is” lots of blather
No, Kim, that’s not what I’m really saying, but that has never stopped you from twisting people’s words into something to use as a base for one of your pointless rants.

[Craig Seeman] “They’re not sinking fast but it’s been a steady leak for several years now and it seems FCP to MC wasn’t much of a bump for them.”
I think you might be reading that wrong. It seemed to me that it was a pretty big bump in sales, but because of the drastic discounts, did not pay well. If the new users who bought in upgrade en-masse with 6, it might pay off.

I believe you are confusing Lightworks with Lucas’ Edit Droid. The lightworks I’ve come across were all hard drive driven. They were more than niche here in LA back in the 90’s–a number of shows and post houses used them–but they went the way of other early offline NLE’s like the Montage.
I’m not really sure how drawn I would be to playing with one, other then for sentimental reasons.

The last lines are great. Sums up the whole thing since April.
“Do they love us? No. They like us. And SAY they love us.”

RED has a big announcement, too, that day.

[Bill Dawson] “At the SMPTE conference in Hollywood yesterday, I asked the Avid rep if we would see version 6 in December. He said it would probably be sooner than that.”
I missed the conference this year. How was it?

October 27, 2011 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Quick Heads Up: Hard Drive Availability may be problematic over the next quarter year[Don Walker] “Supposedly the tsunami was a catalyst for program delivery to migrate to a file based workflow when the Sony plant making HDcam SR tapes was put offline.
“I know that was bandied about a lot, but everyone I know in the HDcam SR world is just waiting for tape to come back/ drop in price before beginning mastering and back-ups again. Nobody is trusting their masters to hard drive-only for the long run.

October 27, 2011 at 1:33 am in reply to: Matrox MXO2 LE Software Disables Avid 5.5.3, or life after FCP 7.[Shane Ross] “My question is, why have this on the Avid system if it isn’t compatible with Avid (yet?)? So you can capture with the Matrox software, then import into Avid MC?”
Or because he is still using FCS, as well. I am. FWIW, MC doesn’t seem to have any problems with my Blackmagic drivers. It just ignores them.

That sounds very cool. I get the gist of what you are doing, but not quite the particulars. Maybe when I get a breath, I need to try to duplicate, but I would love to see some screen shots if you are client-authorized to do so.
