[Steve Connor] “We’ve waited this long, another week or two isn’t a real problem

Its a US thing related to tax-deductable items for small companies and independent contractors. That’s why the consternation. People have discretionary funds that they’ve set aside in anticipation of a macPro, based on this year’s budget. It doesn’t count to have one ordered on 12/31; it must be paid for by 12/31. So people are anguishing over whether they will have to divert these funds to other items. That’s the nervous desk-tapping that you are hearing.

I’m not feeling that because I’m going to hold off on the very first iteration anyway. I’d like the early bugs out before I switch.

[Neil Goodman] “Premiere or Fcpx still haven’t come up in a paid work scenario.”

Premiere is currently my personal choice for projects I produce, but yes, most bays I come across are MC. The Hallmark Channel has converted to Premiere, and I last heard that Pivot was planning to go that way as well. I’ve also heard, first hand, that the promo department for DirectTV was converting to X. So, there’s change going on. But, yes, if you are trying to work as an editor here in LA, you’d be pretty foolish not to know Avid.

[Lance Bachelder] “There’s been a few morn’s I’ve awoke, clicked in and wondered if I was gonna be nuked myself, yet somehow I’m still here lol and looking forward to more heated debates with true peers 🙂

    Thanks Tim.

We’ve had our taste of merlot, and we’ve had our taste of brandy; the consensus is that the merlot decanted just fine, but that, sadly, the brandy had been uncorked for a bit too long.

Yup. Same or similar bugs in Macland. I will occasionally get have a half-dozen duplicated project tabs when opening a project. Its very intermittent, though. AND, I haven’t checked the memory usage, but Pr does seem to hang on close a lot, definitely more than half the time. I send it off with a Force Close a lot more than I would like. It looks like these bugs are cross-platform.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, have you tried the same things with other CODECs?

[Oliver Peters] “Ha ha ha ha ha !

But, to be clear, I’m talking about FCS to augment my needs, not its continued, long-term, exclusive use. At least not by me. Right now – on and off – I work in 4 NLEs (7, X, PProCC and MC). There’s also Smoke, but in my market, people have dabbled, but no one has adopted.

I truly wish I could follow this, but since brandy has been spilled all over it, there’s no way to follow this thread back. Its not even listed in the index.
