This may be the same issue addressed in the recent article added to Ken Stone’s site. If so…

Before you export:
1) Hit home and then mark your in point on the sequence
2) Hit end to reach the end of the sequence BUT THEN move the playhead one frame earlier by pressing the left arrow key; NOW mark your out point.

Export QT Movie without Conversion. Try to import that movie and see if the problem still persists. Apparently the problem lies in the single empty frame that is captured at the end of the sequence when using the end or down arrow keys to mark your out point. Eliminate this and legend has that your QT movie will be importable without rendering.

“Could not open handler. System memory is probably very low.”

Thank you all for your responses.

I have no problem spending an extra $1,000 or so for CAC. My question arose, because I was looking for a lens that is wider than 16x. There is another Canon in the HDgc line that is 20% wider and $2,500 more expensive, but it lacks CAC.

Based on your responses, it sounds more prudent to go with the CAC lens and purchase a wide-angle converter for those situations in which I must go wider.

Someone please let me know if my conclusion is off.

Just to clarify, I found the firmware upgrade file for the HVX200 at the following page:

I am entering this in the forum because my several previous attempts to get to the download page landed me at a Japanese-only page after going through several correct-looking English pages.

I am having the same trouble after upgrading to 5.1.2. I don’t have enough trials yet to back this up, but on the surface it appears that only footage from one of our three HVX200 cameras is being rejected. Not all of the clips from that camera are rejected, but many are. Up to this point, we had not had one bit of trouble with P2 footage (shot on P2 cards; Firestore is a different story) importing properly into FCP, regardless of camera, for the past 11-12 months.

All of our footage files are transferred to hard drives in the field and then imported. Because the source camera in question is one of our less-used cameras, I can’t definitively trace the problem to the moment we upgraded to 5.1.2. However, I know it’s always worked in the past.

Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a reason and/or solution?

Great suggestion. However, this afternoon Dell technical support officially diagnosed this as a bad motherboard on the laptop, and it is being replaced.
