18 db User Switch on HPX 500
We love our HPX500. We began testing it about a month ago, and couldn’t help but buy it.
There’s a lot in this camera. So far, I have only found one function I can’t get to work. Perhaps Jan or another user can tell me what I’m missing?
I have assigned 18 db gain to one of the three user switches. When I push the user button, nothing happens. 0 db (or 6 or 12 db) remain indicated on the screen and clearly there is not a jump in the gain.
Why does the 18 db assignment not work? Is there another way to achieve 18 db (it’s not in the gain menu)? Is 18 db reserved for certain recording modes? We most often shoot 720/24PN.
I’m not asking to debate the merits of using 18 db gain, just how to engage it on the HPX500.
Thanks!

Austin, TexasP.S. For those of you who are wondering, the HPX500 is quite capable in low light without gain. It is so far from the nighttime performance of the HVX200 that it’s not even worth comparing. This is a 2/3″ chip camera and behaves like one.
