Hi — if you dont fancy that all you have to do is this –

1 ) put reverse on a second layer 1 pixel back in z space
2 ) precompose front and back layers
    3 ) rotate precomp — et voila ……..

  • Hi Nicholas

have done a similar thing before with a similar problem solved by animatin a mask to reveal signature using mask as a track matte —

    — you can animate the thickness of the line and tweak mask so that the reveal is a precise match for the signature at the point where it is problematic —- cant remember the exact details so you will have to think it through a bit but this does work….

…. masks can be generated from Ai file as below …….

…….. open file in Ai / select paths / copy paths / open Ae / paste to required layer where they appear as masks.

    —- good luck —————— chris —-

  • Hi Lars –

    — if you want to use it as a wipe its pretty good I think — I gues you could reverse it as well to get an image to assemble

    — will have another go at attaching example image

    should be here

  • Hi

    —–think you need either —

1 ) black and white matte for each layer ( piece )

    OR

    2 ) vector for each layer ( piece )

Also, depending on what you want to achieve, there is also a jigsaw option with the shatter effect ( that comes with AE ) which might be useful – example attached

  • – hi again ….

    – probably you tried this anyway – but if I remember correctly I actually copied only the layers needed and pasted them into a new comp ——

————– I say this because if you open the project in a new comp I assume it will also open the problem as which is presumably cunningly tucked away somewhere……..

  • Hi – had the same once …..

    – seem to remember I copied every layer I needed into a new composition …

… cant quite remember all the details — basically I built another project file and it went away…..

—- sorry this is a bit vague but am pretty sure thats how I solved it …

Hi — you could also do it by setting up one layer / copy x times as required / stagger layers along timeline as required / then change the contents of each layer by clicking layer – hold alt key down – then drag new footage from the input panel and drop onto required layer….

    — not 100% sure on this but if using the AE camera think it should be ok if you precompose the flare and the building first — chris —
