Cutting on Premiere since CS 5.5 I can’t say that I agree with that assessment of adobe at all.
They are different animals and like i said it was built to be
much more robust and handle heavy lifting, so naturally it needs
more resources. That’s all I have to say on this.

Is it at least usb 3 drive connected to usb 3 port?
That might work but not likely reliable.
FCP 7 and Premiere are completely different animals.
For one Premiere is 64-bit and loves to have as much
Ram as you can afford. 4k native editing is extremely sluggish without
at least 32gb of system ram for instance. It’s fairly common to hear of sluggishness if you have
less than 16gb, unless your only editing standard def or small content. -
3 things come to mind:
10gb of system ram is barely cutting it…16gb seems to be the bare minimum these days.
Do you have OpenCL enabled in project settings…that might help.
Most importantly, what drive are you playing the mxf files from?

May 2, 2016 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Leaving Premiere Pro CC 2015.2 and coming back causes endless “wheel of Death”I have a very minor version of this with same version of premiere.
I’ll be editing then go to click on the premiere menu and the app momentarily
freezes then I get the wheel for 2-4 seconds then it’s ok.Running Mavericks here. (can’t update os x version as it breaks some of our infrastructure)

[Oliver Peters] ” Both Avid and Adobe are working on what they have to do to replace the core components they need in order to function.”
Excellent.
the 32 bit QT daemon that runs on my mac has been a pain in the arse sometimes.
hopefully those components are 64 bit.

Has there been much improvement since 7.6?
The installers will still be available and as long as ProRes can
be read, no problem for me. -

Premiere likes to have more to run better….I know when I had 16 gb on fairly current
mac towers it was “sufficient” until we started editing in 4k….an upgrade to 32gb
was mandatory at that point. -

April 12, 2016 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro 9.2 & Graphics card CUDA problems, video goes black! Poof!David, unfortunately any OS beyond Mavericks breaks key infrastructure here.
I have a windows server I cannot access (SMB was changed beyond Mavericks) as well as fiber channel cards that will not
function on anything beyond Mavericks. So I’m stuck here for now.Previous version of premiere prior to CC 2015.02 worked just fine
with CUDA and multi-cam. Unfortunately I cannot roll back premiere
and CUDA is currently in limbo for some of us. -

I can’t even use multi-cam smoothly even on low res setting with
the current CUDA driver.I’m on Mavericks.
