I’ve been playing .MTS files just fine on an 8-core mac pro
with quadro 4000 and Raid 5 disk array through a very old
multibridge extreme from Black Magic.

with cs 5.5 stacked video tracks always stop or stutter without
finishing, even when fully rendered some times.

in CS 6 that stopping/stuttering is completely gone.

my experience as well.

often times though an email sent to BMD goes unanswered. Nothing a call wouldn’t take care of.

Fortunately they make better products now than they did 6 years ago.

We’re talking about a company that owns Davinci & Teranex….they are about quality now.

Eric the Decklink Studio with analog options should work well for you and can be found
on ebay for $ 300 – $ 500

I’d love to have a Kona 3 but my need for high quality down-scaling is now gone thanks
to the Adobe suite offering high quality downsizing. I’d also have to spend a lot more
for a Kona than a Decklink…something I wasn’t expecting I would have to do any time soon
until the LH-E was suddenly obsoleted. I do understand products have a lifecycle, but BMD
still made a cs 6 driver for the very obsolete multibridge-extreme I still use.

The LH-E is much younger and still capable. I find it unfortunate I have to remove it now.

I totally understand your point about Lion.
I Just upgraded to snow leopard myself for cs 5.5 and have
no intention of running Lion until I have to (CS 6.5 or 7 perhaps)

But you are running it on a macbook and not a mac tower with a quadro 4000
or equivalent workstation level system. It runs great for those of us on
that hardware.

I’m not saying this to create an argument, just noting cs 6 runs VERY well
on that particular hardware.

It’s quite possible the newness of the OpenCL use with CS 6 needs some further refining.
Kinda makes sense when you consider only 2 non Nvidia chipset gpu’s are supported.

I can confirm CS6 works with even a very old black-magic multibridge extreme
with the just released 9.5 driver.

your Lh-i should work fine.

I got word today that AJA will not be offering a CS 6 driver for the now “legacy” LH-e I have in my edit 2 suite, so I’ll be trading that out for a Decklink card, to have the added ability
of Resolve lite.

Indeed, I’m getting much improved playback performance (no random stopping as in cs 5.5 with multiple rendered layers) and render speed with CS 6.

though I’m on Snow Leopard.

Erik, just an fyi, if you like Keylight you should try Premiere’s built in Ultrakeyer.

Just as capable of excellent keys as Keylight in my experience and accelerated through CUDA.

You can play back single layers of keyed video in real time without rendering….amazing!
