Walter what are the cards and management software you intend to use with the ciprico as a san?
Some day I may need multi edit system access to our array and I would love to keep the existing disk array.

well i think its a bug in compressor, because this aliasing uglyness would show itself if i went directly from the timeline to compressor for DVD mpeg video (and we all know how buggy that can be at times)

Walter I’ve got the ciprico 4210 fibre channel array and love it.
It’s rated for everything up to RGB 4:4:4 from an SR deck.
It’s been quite the workhorse for me at work.
A great product to be sure.

While we’re on the subject of Pro Tools anqd OMF,
Does anyone know why there is a problem with OMF files above 2GB?
What the heck are long form programs supposed to do?
I made an OMF that either had the error or was larger than 2gb and pro tools hd 7.1 would not import it.

that DV/HDV switch is so important and that sounds like the problem.
note: though I have seen people switch from DV/HDV while the deck/cam is on you should not do this. Some people have blown their firewire ports doing this. make sure the deck is off when switching.

One of my clients brought over his G-Raid to capture a 5 minute digital betacam clip through my g5 quad via FW800.
We captured it 10-bit SD uncompressed DIRECTLY to his G-Raid.
Worked Great!
